Kinghorn Children’s Gala Week ended on Saturday in a blaze of sunshine and colour.
The celebrations, which started last Sunday with the Crowning Ceremony, Prize giving
and Fancy Dress competition, continued throughout the week.
The fabulous “Kinghorn’s Got Talent” show was held on Tuesday, Family Quiz night
on Wednesday and a Treasure Hunt round the village on Thursday all of which were
very well supported. The traditional street parade on Saturday was blessed with
beautiful weather and this year’s theme of “Around the World” ensured colour, noise
and hundreds of very happy adults & children. Crowds lined the High Street and supporters
cheered the parade on through the village to its finish at the Primary School for
the traditional Sports event. There were also bouncy castles, a Falconry display,
Swing Boats, Dunfermline Athletic Football Club Target Football and representatives
of the Emergency Services.
The final event was the End of Gala Party Night which was a sell-out with over 300
adults and children enjoying a fantastic evening in the Community Centre. Entertainment
was provided by Revolutions Disco and the winners of the Talent Show, dancers Emiley
Munro, Leah Adamson & Maya Whyte as well as singer Dylan Ritchie.
Chairperson Catrina Teasdale said “Once again the community of Kinghorn surpassed
itself. The year on year support of Villagers, Local businesses, Councils, Youth
Organisations, Church and Primary School helps to ensure that Kinghorn Children’s
Gala Week can not only continue but go from strength to strength. We provided feedback
forms at the End of Gala party and a number of adults have shown an interest in helping
out or joining the Committee next year. A very special thank you is of course due
to this year’s Gala Committee who spent months planning, fund raising, organising
and running the events. Hopefully we’ve left the children with some very happy memories
of this year’s Gala!”
